Captain Singh's wife told the story
Recalling her first meeting with Captain Singh in the video, Smriti says, “We met on the first day of college. I don't want to exaggerate, but it was love at first sight. A month later, he got selected in the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC). We had met in an engineering college, but then he got selected for medical college. He was very intelligent. Just a month after we met, we were in a long-distance relationship for eight years. Then we decided to get married. Within two months of our marriage, he got deployed in Siachen.”

'The conversation took place a day before the martyrdom'
Smriti tried to hold back her tears and said, “On July 18, we had a long conversation about what our lives would be like in the next 50 years. We would build a house, have children… On the morning of July 19, I got a call that he was no more. For the next 7-8 hours, we were not ready to believe that something like this had happened. Now I have the Kirti Chakra in my hand, so maybe it is true. Well, he is a hero. We can handle our lives. But he gave his life to save three other families, his military family.” Captain Singh was cremated with full state honours on July 22, 2023 in Bhagalpur in Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh.
