Bridgetown. South Africa captain Aiden Markram admitted that his team could not handle the scoreboard pressure in the T20 World Cup final against India. Virat Kohli's 76 runs and Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya's brilliant bowling in the death overs helped India beat South Africa by seven runs.

After the defeat, Markram said, “I am disappointed right now. It will take time to recover from this. We bowled well and batted well, but could not reach victory.” He said, “We have seen in many matches that nothing can be said till the last ball. There was always pressure of the scoreboard. It was a good match and it proved that we deserved to play the final.”

While previous South African teams often buckled under pressure, Markram's side have found a variety of ways to win matches in the tournament. “Everything changed quickly at the end. But we were in a good position. We know we could have won the game. Hopefully we will learn from this and build on it. Even though we lost the match, it will always be a proud day for us,” he said.

We have worked hard for this for three-four years: Rohit
On the other hand, Indian captain Rohit Sharma became emotional after winning the T20 World Cup and said that his team not only performed well in the final but also worked hard for it for the last three years. He said, “I cannot tell how I am feeling right now. I cannot express it in words. I could not sleep last night. I wanted to win at any cost.”

He said, “It is difficult to tell how much hard work we have done in the last three-four years. This is not just a matter of today, there are three-four years of hard work behind this.” He has not forgotten the defeat in the ODI World Cup final last year.
