US NSA JK Sullivan meets Modi and Jaishankar, plans to enhance partnership on emerging technologies


New Delhi : US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan arrived in India on Monday on a two-day visit. Here he also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi after External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. After the meeting, the PM said in a post, 'Met the US National Security Advisor. India is committed to further strengthening the Indo-US global strategic partnership for global good.' Jaishankar said in a post on X, 'There was a wide discussion on bilateral, regional and global issues. It is hoped that the Indo-US strategic partnership will move forward.' After this, the National Security Advisors of the two countries met. In this, apart from the Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology (ICET), bilateral relations and regional security situation were discussed. In ICET, there is a plan to increase partnership on emerging technologies like semiconductors, AI, quantum computing, defense innovation, space research.

Sullivan is on a visit to Delhi on 17-18 June. This is the first visit of a senior US administrative official after the Modi government came to power. Sullivan is accompanied by a high-level delegation. Apart from other senior government officials, it also includes people from the industry. It is believed that the NSAs of both the countries discussed the India Central East Europe Economic Corridor launched in September last year.

In fact, its work is getting delayed due to unrest in West Asia. Sullivan's visit to India is also important because just three days ago, PM Modi and US President Biden met during the G7. Sullivan has come to India after participating in the Ukraine peace talks in Switzerland. India had distanced itself from the joint statement of this summit.
