CSAT Full Form in UPSC 2024: What is CSAT?

CSAT is called qualifying paper in UPSC. It is a part of the prelims exam, whose full form (CSAT- Civil Services Aptitude Test) is Civil Services Aptitude Test. Without passing this paper, you cannot become an IAS. CSAT score is not considered for final selection, but it is very important to pass the prelims exam. The UPSC CSE preliminary exam consists of two papers-

  • General Studies Paper-I
  • General Studies Paper II / CSAT

80 objective type questions are asked in CSAT. In which there is negative marking of 1/3. This paper of 200 marks is of 2 hours, in which 66 marks are qualifying. In CSAT, questions are asked from subjects like reasoning, maths, decision making, comprehension passage.
