The Ministry of Education said that the sanctity of the NET exam held on 18 June 2024 has been compromised. This decision has been taken under the inputs given by the Indian Cyber ​​Crime Coordination Center (14C). Like NEET, UGC NET exam is also conducted by the National Testing Agency.

This is a big setback for the NTA, which is already grappling with the NEET exam scam case. The Ministry of Education tweeted on Wednesday, June 19, 'In view of the preliminary information received from the Indian Cyber ​​Crime Coordination Center under the Ministry of Home Affairs, the UGC NET 2024 exam to be held on June 18 is being canceled. Now this exam will be conducted again. Information regarding the new date of UGC NET exam will be released separately on ugcnet.nta.nic.in.'

UGC NET 2024: There will be a CBI inquiry

The ministry has said that 'The CBI is being entrusted with the task of investigating the irregularities in the UGC NET examination. The government is committed to maintaining the sanctity of examinations and protecting the interests of students. Strict action will be taken against any person or institution found responsible for irregularities in the NET examination.'

UGC NET Exam: The exam was conducted in pen paper mode

This exam, which makes candidates eligible for Assistant Professor, Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and PhD admission, was conducted in pen paper mode i.e. offline mode. NTA conducted the NET exam in two shifts on the same day across the country. About 9 lakh candidates appeared in this exam.

What is UGC NET?

The full name of UGC NET is University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test. This exam is conducted for a total of 83 subjects for candidates with master's degree. People who pass this exam are eligible to get the job of Assistant Professor in universities and colleges. At the same time, those who come in the top 6% cutoff are given Junior Research Fellowship. Under this, they are paid a fixed amount for research work by the Government of India. This exam is conducted twice a year – June and December.
