Heavy rain warning in Himachal Pradesh for next 3-4 days

The Meteorological Department has issued a 'yellow' alert, predicting heavy rains at different places on 2 and 3 August. Tomorrow, heavy to very heavy rains are likely at one or two places in Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla and Sirmaur districts. Along with this, the IMD has also issued a landslide warning. The Meteorological Department has predicted landslides and flash floods in sensitive areas of Kullu, Solan, Sirmaur, Shimla and Kinnaur districts.

Landslide wreaks havoc in Wayanad

The death toll in Tuesday's landslide in Kerala's hilly Wayanad district has risen to 80. A source said that rescue workers are removing body parts from rivers and mud, so it is difficult to ascertain the exact number of people killed in this tragedy. The source said that it is not clear whether the body parts found belong to a single person or to several persons. Many women and children are also among the dead.
