Told the children, we worked hard, that's why we took your photo, thank them – Ritesh Deshmukh

Riteish Deshmukh, who often shares funny reels with his wife Genelia D'Souza on social media, is in the news these days for the film 'Kakuda'. Riteish, who recently came to Delhi, talked to us on topics like the use of AI in the film industry, children and paparazzi:– Your and your wife Genelia D'Souza's reels are quite popular on social media. Your relationship is so beautiful that it is called couple goals. How do you see it? Do you ever feel the pressure of it?
There is no pressure in this. In a relationship, you have to be who you are. I have been in a relationship with my wife for the last 22 years. First 10 years of dating and then 12 years of marriage and we are the way we are. Otherwise, people like these reels or humor. We do not feel any pressure of it. Yes, the pressure increases when someone says that you have not uploaded your reel for a long time. Recently I met a woman who was saying that it has been 28 days. I asked why! So she said that you have not uploaded your reel for 28 days. So I thought that now I have to upload my reel. This is what happens a little bit.

– Often when your children appear in front of the media, they greet them politely. They and you are praised for this.
Children do not do this namaste for praise. Whether there is praise or not, it does not matter. If you are an actor, the paparazzi culture has increased so much that if I take the children secretly, it is not right. That is why we do it openly. Now when we met face to face, I told them that this is the media, these are children. Now what happens is that their photos are being taken, because of that the children feel that they are something special. But maybe we have worked hard for 20 years, that is why their photos are being taken. So we sat at home and explained to them that you have not done anything till now due to which people should take your photos. So when someone takes your photo, you should politely say thank you with folded hands and move ahead because they are also doing their work. And the children follow this.

-What is your character in the film 'Kakuda'? What was the reason for joining this story?
The name of my character in the film is Victor Jacob who is a ghost hunter. In the story of the film, it happens that Saqib Saleem's character meets Kakuda. There is a belief that when Kakuda comes to the house, the person dies after 13 days. Then Sonakshi's character comes to call me to go to the village and catch this Kakuda because this is not an easy matter. As far as joining is concerned, I always try to present myself in a new way because surviving here is not an easy task. And it is not that this is only about the actors but this challenge is in front of the director, technician, cameraman, everyone because every time the audience wants something new. So everyone tries to improve themselves and wants to do something new. So I tried to work in this genre of horror comedy. Then the director of the film Aditya Sarpotdar is an expert in his craft, so I handed myself over to him. I knew that I would give my best in the film.

– You have been working in comedy films for a long time, then what was the reason for staying away from horror comedy for so long? Did you not get any offer or did you refuse it?
Actually, till now not many films have been made in the horror comedy genre. Bhool Bhulaiyaa was the first horror comedy film in which a superstar worked. After a long time Stree came and then Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 came. So very few films have been successful in this genre. That is why such films were not made.

– Nowadays sequels are being announced even before the release of the film. For example, Salaar, Brahmastra and Hindustani etc. You have worked in many franchise films. What do you think about this?
See, those who have a very big film like Bahubali, they announce the sequel before the release of the film. And then the investment in the film is also done accordingly. Its story is also completed in not one but two or more parts. But the fear in this is that if the first film is not a hit, then who will watch the next films. But those whose sequel is announced after the first film is a hit, they are not seen as two-part films. When the audience watches these films, they feel that they have seen the whole story.
