New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a befitting reply to the opposition during the motion of thanks on the President's address in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. While PM Modi was speaking, the opposition kept raising slogans. During this, a situation arose when the Speaker of the House Jagdeep Dhankhar had to stop PM Modi's speech and put forth his point. He questioned the attitude of the opposition. He said that this is very sad, painful, and indecent behavior. Jagdeep Dhankhar said that the opposition has not left the House today but has left the decorum.

'The opposition has turned its back on the Constitution of India'

Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar said that I am hurt to see such painful, sad and indecent behavior. The government is working continuously. I discussed this matter. And I also requested. The Leader of the Opposition was given a chance to speak without any hindrance. Today he has not left the House, he has left the decorum. Today he has not only turned his back on me, he has also turned his back on the Constitution of India.

'The Constitution is not a book to be held in the hand, it is a book to be won'

During this, the Chairman of the Upper House of Parliament also targeted some opposition MPs for roaming around with the Constitution in their hands. He said that today they have not insulted me or you, they have insulted the oath of the Constitution. Such a big insult to the Constitution of India, such a big joke. The Constitution of India is not a book to be held in the hand, it is a book to live by. I hope that they will introspect, think deeply. They will probe their hearts and perform their duty.

Opposition staged a walkout during PM Modi's speech

PM Modi also raised questions on the opposition's walkout from the Rajya Sabha. He said that the opposition is insulting the great tradition of the Upper House. The people of the country have defeated them in every way that now they have no other option left except shouting on the streets. Sloganeering and uproar is written in their fate.
