Captain Suryakumar Yadav gave the responsibility of bowling the super over to Washington Sundar and he gave India a target of just 3 runs by dismissing Kusal Perera and Pathum Nissanka.

The Indian team took a 1-0 lead by winning the first match of the three-match T20 series against Sri Lanka by 43 runs. In the second match, Team India won by 7 wickets and by winning the last match in the super over, clean sweeped the host team in the series.
