This is the world's largest plane graveyard, 4000 airplanes have been standing like garbage for years

You must have travelled in an aeroplane. Travelling in it is a lot of fun. But do you know that aeroplanes also have a shelf life. Just like cars, buses, autos, scooters and trains become old after some time, there comes a time when aeroplanes also expire and then they are kept at a particular place. This place is called the graveyard of aeroplanes.

Although you must have seen human corpses being buried in graveyards, but there is a place in the world where thousands of junked planes are brought and left. Be it small airline planes or big airline planes. Due to the accumulation of planes here for many years, this place has now become a graveyard of airplanes. Let us know where the world's largest graveyard of planes is. (All photo courtesy: worldrecordacademy.org)

The largest cemetery in the world

Davis Monthan Air Force Base in Arizona, USA is considered to be the world's largest cemetery. This place is also known as “Boneyard”. There are about 4000 damaged airplanes standing here. Those which have the scope of repair are repaired. The parts inside the remaining airplanes are sold at a low price and used in the construction of other planes. After being damaged, the body of the airplane is of no use, so it is left as it is. However, the US government has given permission to other countries to buy old parts and planes from here.

Why would you do that?

Just like a human has a life, an airplane also has a life. In simple words, the life of an airplane is 10 to 20 years. After this, these airplanes are taken to the graveyard. The essential parts are removed, the rest of the outer part is left under the open sky.

What airplanes are here?

Anyone can be surprised to see the airplanes parked here. This cemetery has everything from airplanes to spaceships. The Cold War era bomber plane B-52 is also a part of this cemetery. Apart from this, F-14 planes are also kept here, you must have seen it in the famous Hollywood film 'Top Gun'. Let us tell you that this plane was removed from the US Navy fleet in the year 2006.

After World War II, damaged airplanes started piling up here. However, NASA has also used some of the airplanes. Interestingly, earlier this place used to be a tourist spot. People used to come to see this wonder. But now entry has been closed here.

America's 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group takes care of the largest graveyard of aircraft. Not only this, it also repairs the planes that come here. Even today, more than 500 employees are engaged in the maintenance of these planes in this graveyard. However, no outsider comes here even to take a look. The number of planes is increasing day by day and no one knows what will happen to these planes lying like junk.
