There will be a high level investigation into the Delhi coaching accident, Home Ministry has formed an investigation committee


New Delhi: The Union Home Ministry on Monday constituted a high-level committee headed by an additional secretary to probe the death of three civil services aspirants due to flooding in the basement of a coaching centre. A Home Ministry spokesperson said the committee will investigate the causes, fix responsibility, make suggestions and recommend policy changes.

Apart from the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, the Principal Secretary (Home) of the Delhi Government, Special Commissioner of Police of Delhi Police and Fire Advisor will be members of the committee and a Joint Secretary in the Home Ministry will be its convener. The spokesperson said that the committee will submit its report in 30 days.

After the death of three candidates due to drowning, anger was seen across the city from Parliament to the streets of Old Rajendra Nagar. On Monday, five more people were arrested and the work of removing encroachment with bulldozers began. Three students preparing for the civil service examination died after the basement of a coaching center got flooded after rain on Saturday night in Old Rajendra Nagar area of ​​​​central Delhi.

Delhi Police has arrested the owner of coaching centre Rao IAS Study Circle and registered a case against him under culpable homicide and other charges. The incident echoed in Parliament on Monday and members demanded that responsibility be fixed so that such an incident does not happen again.
