Even after separating from NDA, Chirag remained Modi's Hanuman
Chirag Paswan's father Ram Vilas Paswan was a minister in the Modi government since 2014. He passed away on 8 October 2020. After that Chirag took over the command of LJP. Assembly elections were held in Bihar in the same year and LJP contested the elections separately from NDA. LJP fielded its candidates against NDA's constituent Janata Dal United (JDU). JDU suffered a major setback in the election. JDU leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar strongly objected to this and Chirag separated from NDA. He returned in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Meanwhile, even while staying away from NDA, he kept calling himself Hanuman of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. When the Modi government was formed for the third time, Chirag was made a cabinet minister. Not even three months had passed since the formation of the government that Chirag made his own government uncomfortable on four issues.
Objection on four issues in three month old government!
Chirag's party claims to represent Dalits and the underprivileged. Muslims also have a special place in their vote bank. There was a time when Ram Vilas Paswan had demanded a Muslim Chief Minister in Bihar. Whether it is opposing the Supreme Court's decision allowing sub-classification in Dalit castes and filling some posts in the Central Secretariat by writing a letter or sending the Waqf Amendment Bill to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) and demanding caste census across the country, every step of Chirag is being seen in the mirror of these equations. Caste politics is a bitter truth in the country and especially in Bihar. On the other hand, the Muslim vote bank is such an electoral trick that every party is trying to grab a large part of it. So was Chirag successful in getting all his five candidates to the Lok Sabha only because of the Dalit-Muslim alliance? Did other castes not vote for him or did they support him so sporadically that it did not make any difference? Do the NDA allies and especially the BJP have no contribution in his success?
Can there be an 'equal' or 'opposite' reaction?
These questions have become relevant after Chirag's uncle and cousin met Amit Shah. If this meeting is an 'opposite reaction' to Chirag's 'action', then a time may come when there may be an 'equal' reaction from the BJP. Then whatever level Chirag will go to make the BJP uncomfortable, the BJP can also make him feel the same level of discomfort. This picture of Shah's meeting with uncle-nephew can be a signal for Chirag – options are open for everyone. If Chirag is making up his mind with five MPs, then it would be meaningless to expect that the BJP, which has reached the figure of 240 MPs even after falling, will stay behind in the reaction. It has only given the message of 'opposite reaction', whether the phase of 'equal reaction' will come or not, it completely depends on Chirag. If Chirag moves forward, then his uncle and cousin, who broke his party LJP, are ready to fill his place from behind.
