Strict parenting is not right
Sushmita said in an interview, “I started out as a strict mother, but now I allow myself some leeway”. An important aspect of parenting is also having fun. It is important to have some rules and regulations, but it is equally important to spend time with your children and have fun with them.
Sushmita wants to spend quality time with her family, go on fun-filled vacations and maintain a light-hearted mother-child relationship.
Taking leave when you become a mother
Taking a break to become a mother can be a challenging decision for women, especially when they are at a crossroads between their career and motherhood. Many women struggle between going to work and leaving their young child behind, and often feel “mom guilt”. However, Sushmita Sen made the bold decision to take a break from her acting career in 2010. It was during this time that she adopted her second daughter, Alisah.
Supporting the child’s decision
Sushmita Sen fully supports her children's decisions and aspirations. She encourages them to follow their desires and doesn't force them to choose a particular career. Her motto for her children is, “Make your own path and don't deviate from it… remember your dreams.”
Single mothers are not weak
Every child needs both parents. However, even if one of the family members is absent for some reason, the family remains complete. Sushmita Sen has proved this many times. The actress says, “Being a single mother is not easy. It is very romantic, but not easy.” Taking care of children alone can be challenging, but not impossible. With a little hard work and dedication, you can do everything.

Raising children is the most precious experience. When Sushmita adopted a girl, she had to fight a legal battle for years for the custody of her daughter. Despite appearing in court several times, Sushmita considers herself fortunate to be a mother. Raising a child – whether it is pregnancy, care, education or fighting for their rights – is never easy. But when your child smiles at you, it reminds you that it is all worth it.
