SG filed evidence in sealed envelope

SG Raju said that the ED had filed the evidence in a sealed cover, but the bench did not receive it. Raju offered to file new evidence. Senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, appearing for the Chhattisgarh government, said the state has included details of the WhatsApp chats in its affidavit, which show a nexus between the former officials, the then advocate general of the state and the judge.

'The matter is between the accused and ED'

Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for the accused, said that the Chhattisgarh government has no role in this case as the matter is between the accused and the ED. He wondered why the state filed an affidavit in the case.

Jethmalani said the then advocate general of the state had participated in perpetrating the fraud and had helped in obtaining bail by undermining the established judicial process. Rohatgi said these affidavits are useless in the court proceedings as the ED wants to transfer the trial of the case outside the state.

Now hearing will be held on November 8

Fixing the case for further hearing on November 8, the bench said it will have to examine the evidence presented by the ED and the state government on the alleged nexus between the accused, the former advocate general and the judge. The bench said, 'We will investigate it because the allegation is against the judicial system.' LG Raju said, 'Such termites should not be allowed to weaken the judicial system.'
