Relations with India
Sunita Williams' father Deepak Pandya was a neuro anatomist of Indian origin from Mehsana district of Gujarat, while her mother Ursuline Bonnie Pandya (née Zalokar) was Slovenian-American. Sunita's father immigrated to the United States from Ahmedabad in 1958. Her parents lived in Falmouth, Massachusetts. She is the youngest of three children.
