Sunil Shetty called cinema the father of OTT, said- the industry did not suffer any loss even due to video cassettes

Bollywood veteran actor Sunil Shetty has said some interesting things about the debate of cinema vs OTT platform. He says that cinema is the father of OTT platform. He has said that the craze of films is never going to end. The actor said, 'Its craze was there earlier and will always be there in the future.'

Regarding the competition between cinema and OTT, he said – absolutely not. Can a son be a challenge for a father? Cinema will always be the father of all entertainment industries. He said, 'Bollywood directors are experimentalists, due to which many times good films are not made, while South Indian films connect with the audience and that is why films from there are dubbed or copied in Hindi and other languages.'

'OTT is a great platform for emerging artists'

He further added, 'OTT platforms mainly provide a great platform for emerging artists. The actor stressed the importance of films in different languages and said that every creation has its own beauty, the only fact is that it should be made in favor of the country.

'Cassettes did not harm the cinema medium in any way'

He further said that there was a time when it was said that video cassettes would create a stir in the cinema world, but these cassettes could not cause any harm to the medium of cinema.

'Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgan step into the era of video cassettes'

Shetty said, “It was during the video cassette era that Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgan made their debut in the film industry. Similarly, OTT platforms will give new, young and talented actors from across the country a chance to enter a big medium like cinema.”

Abusive dialogues should be banned on OTT platforms

However, the actor agreed that derogatory dialogues should be banned on OTT platforms. He also stressed that anti-national content appearing on any medium should be banned.
