Criminal background

The biggest thing mentioned in the notification issued by the Bar Council is about criminal background. BCI has made criminal background check mandatory for law students. Students will have to tell whether they have ever been involved in any kind of criminal case or not. Information from any kind of FIR to punishment, custody, arrest or release will have to be given.

If you fail to do so, strict disciplinary action will be taken against you. Even your degree will be withheld.

According to the legal education rules, law students cannot pursue more than one regular degree course at a time. The BCI has said that if a student is pursuing another regular degree along with LLB, he must inform about it. As per Rule No. 12 of BCI Rules of Legal Education, you have to maintain full attendance in the class. To keep an eye on this, the Bar Council is implementing biometric attendance and CCTV surveillance. Instructions have been given to all law colleges and law universities in this regard.
