A few months ago, Nancy left her son with Sonu and went to the village.

He works hard all day for the better future of his son
Since then Sonu has been struggling on the streets of Delhi with his son. He works all day on his rented bike so that he can give Sarthak a good life. He wants Sarthak to study and move forward in life. Sonu said that I just want my son to go to school early, study and fulfill his dreams, play with friends. 'All the tiredness disappears after meeting my son'
Sonu works for more than 12 hours and earns Rs 500. Sometimes while resting on the footpath or in the park, he talks to Sarthak and forgets his tiredness. Sonu wishes that a day comes when he will spend time with Sarthak, play, eat and be happy with each other.

'Bringing my son to work with me was a big decision'
Sonu says that bringing Sarthak to work or leaving him alone is a very difficult decision for him. He is always worried about protecting Sarthak from traffic, accidents, pollution and dust. Once stray dogs chased him and one of them even bit him, but Sonu faces every difficulty to protect his son. Sonu says, “There have been many times when stray dogs have chased my bike and I have had to deal with the danger as well as protect my son. I have also been bitten by dogs, yet I keep making deliveries and in the meantime I try to keep my son safe.”

'Sometimes I don't even have money to buy food'
As a delivery rider, Sonu's earnings depend on the orders he completes. So, he has to make as many deliveries as possible to earn money for his family. “There were times when I did not have money to buy food, but I always gave priority to my son's food. My wife also worked as a maid to contribute to our household expenses. Now that she has returned to our village, the responsibility of raising my child is on my shoulders,” he says. Amidst fatigue, fear and responsibility, Sonu is struggling for a better future for his son. Stories like Sonu's remind us that love and devotion have no limits.
