The upcoming horror thriller ‘Shaitaan,’ featuring powerhouse performers Ajay Devgn, R Madhavan, and Jyotika, is set to release on March 8, generating significant pre-release excitement.

‘Shaitaan’ is poised to hit screens this Friday, and the film, a remake of the Gujarati production ‘Vash,’ has garnered positive attention. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) granted a U/A certification to the film with a few modifications, further adding to the anticipation surrounding its release. As horror films with a strong ensemble cast have been absent for some time, there is keen interest in how ‘Shaitaan’ will perform on its opening day.

Pre-Release Buzz and Expectations

Girish Johar, a seasoned film business expert, and producer commented, “The awareness of the film is very exciting. After a long while, a horror thriller with a great cast is coming to theatres. Three of them have their own fan following. The good part of the film is that the tone is in the horror zone, but it also targets family audiences. It has got a U/A certificate, so a larger audience can watch it. The brilliant part is that with the trailer, they created awareness, and people really liked it, especially the interactions between Ajay and Madhavan.”

He added, “I think people are excited to watch the film, and I am expecting a good start at the box office,” highlighting the film’s potential to cater to both horror enthusiasts and family audiences.

Box Office Predictions

As per industry tracker Sacnilk, ‘Shaitaan’ has already secured 4554 shows and sold nearly 28000 tickets, amassing about Rs 66 lakhs for day 1. Johar acknowledged the dynamic nature of box office figures, emphasizing the reliance on word of mouth and audience reception.

Johar estimated the first-day box office collection for ‘Shaitaan’ at Rs 8-10 crore, expressing optimism for a strong start. He stated, “I am hoping for a good start. I would be very happy if the film opens to Rs 8-10 crore mark. As a range, it will be a fantastic start. If the audience likes it, depending on word of mouth like the evening shows and everything… also, there is a partial holiday on March 8, which is Maha Shivratri. So, that benefit will also be there. But, if it is not liked by the audience, the collection will come down for sure.” The partial holiday on March 8 is expected to contribute positively to the film’s opening day performance.

The predictions align with the positive momentum and anticipation surrounding ‘Shaitaan,’ marking a potential successful start for this much-anticipated horror flick.
