22-year-old Sarabjot Singh, a resident of Dhin village, Ambala, Haryana is an Indian shooter who will win a medal for India along with Manu Bhaker in Paris Olympics 2024. He comes from a farmer family, his father Jatinder Singh is a farmer and mother Hardeep Kaur is a housewife. He was born on 30 September 2001.
At the age of 13, he started seeing his future in air guns.
Sarabjot Singh saw some children aiming with air guns at a makeshift range during a summer camp. He was 13 years old at that time and wanted to become a footballer. But seeing children aiming at paper with a pistol changed his dream.
In 2014, he went to his father and said, 'Dad, I want to take up shooting.' His farmer father told his son that the sport was too expensive. But Sarabjot did not give up and worked hard for months to learn shooting. In 2019, he won a gold medal at the Junior World Championships, Suhl.
Successful in many competitions
Sarabjot Singh has achieved many significant milestones in his career, including winning the gold medal in the men's 10m air pistol event at the ISSF World Cup 2024 in Munich, Germany. He also secured the first Olympic quota for India in the pistol shooting category by winning a bronze medal at the Asian Shooting Championships in South Korea in 2023.
