According to the information, a meeting of India Alliance was held at the residence of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday night. In this meeting, there was a discussion about the election of the Speaker and the Leader of the Opposition. There was a consensus on the name of Rahul Gandhi for the Leader of the Opposition. Giving information, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal said that Rahul Gandhi has been chosen as the Leader of the Opposition and a letter has been written to the Protem Speaker for this.

Rahul's name was being discussed since the election results
This time all the parties including Congress have performed well in the Lok Sabha elections. In such a situation, after the results, the discussion of Rahul Gandhi becoming the leader of the opposition had intensified. Since the results, Rahul Gandhi has been continuously attacking the Modi government. Be it the paper leak case or the matter of the Protem Speaker, Rahul Gandhi has fiercely targeted the government. There has been a demand from within the Congress to make Rahul the leader of the opposition.

After ten years, he got the status of Leader of Opposition
Congress is getting the status of Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha after a decade. Earlier in 2014 and 2019, Congress did not even have the numbers to get the post of Leader of Opposition. In the first two terms of the Modi government, the main opposition party Congress could not even get 10 percent of the numbers in the House. However, Mallikarjun Kharge in 2014 and then Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary in 2019 were also unofficially made the Leader of Opposition. But this time Congress has won 99 seats on its own, due to which it has got the post of Leader of Opposition.
