United Nations : According to the provisional list of speakers released by the United Nations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the high-level United Nations General Assembly session on September 26. The high-level general debate of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly will be held from September 24 to 30. According to the provisional list of speakers released by the United Nations on Monday, India's 'Head of State' will address the high-level session in the afternoon of September 26. This is not the final list. The United Nations releases an updated provisional list of speakers in the week before the high-level session to inform about any changes in the attendance, schedule and speaking times of leaders, ministers and ambassadors.
Brazil is traditionally the first speaker in this discussion. It will open the high-level session with its address on September 24. After that, US President Joe Biden will address the United Nations.
Narendra Modi, who was sworn in as India's Prime Minister for a historic third term last month, had earlier addressed the annual high-level UNGA session in September 2021.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres will present his report before the general debate begins, after which the President of the 79th session of the General Assembly will address the gathering.
Guterres is also hosting an ambitious “Summit for the Future” at UN Headquarters this week, with Action Days on September 20-21 and a summit on September 22-23.
World leaders will gather at the United Nations to adopt a future deal, which will include a global digital pact and a declaration on future generations.
The UN said, 'This summit is a high-level event that will bring together world leaders to build international consensus on how we can improve the present and secure the future.'
