During a public address in Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sharply criticized the ruling TMC, focusing on the issue of corruption in West Bengal. He asserted that Mamata Banerjee’s party, the TMC, is now synonymous with atrocity and betrayal.

Addressing the crowd in Krishnanagar, PM Modi expressed his disappointment with the TMC government, stating, “Despite receiving a significant mandate from the people of West Bengal repeatedly, the TMC has become a synonym for atrocity and betrayal.”

According to PM Modi, “TMC means betrayal, corruption, and ‘parivarvad.’ TMC stands for ‘Tu, Main aur corruption hi corruption.'”

In the same speech, the prime minister set a target for the state BJP, aiming to secure all 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal. “This time, do vote for BJP extensively… The party will clinch all 42 seats in Bengal,” Modi declared.

Expressing confidence in the gathering, he added, “Seeing you all gathered here in such huge numbers is giving me the confidence to say ‘NDA sarkar, 400 paar,'” addressing the crowd at the ‘Bijoy Sankalpa Sabha’ in the state.

PM Modi pointed to disturbing events in Sandeshkhali, where women accused TMC leaders of sexual abuse. He criticized the state government for allegedly siding with the accused rather than supporting the “distressed mothers and sisters” of the region.

“The mothers and sisters kept pleading for justice, but the TMC government did not listen to them. They took votes in the name of ‘Maa Mati Manush,’ but now the mothers and sisters are weeping in West Bengal,” said the prime minister.

Referring to the troubling situation, he stated, “Here, the criminals decide when to get arrested.”

Recently, Shahjahan Sheikh, a local TMC leader facing allegations of sexual assault and land grabbing in Sandeshkhali, was arrested. His aide Ajit Maity was also arrested following protests by women who accused him of land grabbing and extortion.

Prime Minister Modi, on a two-day visit to West Bengal, inaugurated several projects, including the doubling of the Damodar-Mohishila rail line and the initiation of Phase II of the Raghunathpur Thermal Power Station in Purulia.

Later in the day, the PM is scheduled to visit Bihar’s Aurangabad and lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth more than ₹21,400 crore.
