SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami took cognizance of the demonstration by students in Brampton city of Canada. He said that on one hand the Canadian government has allowed a large number of international students to come here. On the other hand, students have to take to the streets to solve their problems. He urged External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Canadian Sikh leaders and Gurdwara committees to intervene in the matter.

Demand for help from Canadian Sikh MPs
Harjinder Singh Dhami said that a large number of Sikhs are working in government and administrative positions in Canada. They should negotiate with the Canadian government to resolve the grievances of the students and children of their community. He specifically asked Canadian Sikh MPs Harjit Singh Sajjan, Jagmeet Singh and Brampton Deputy Mayor Harkirat Singh to look into the issue. More than 200 Indian students studying at St. Clair College in Brampton protested on August 28 after failing in their exams. A group of postgraduate students gathered in Garden Square in Brampton and demanded that they be given grace points for passing.
