PepsiCo to invest over Rs 1200 crore to set up Ujjain facility – PressNews24

With over 22 acres of land, the plant will begin operations in the first three months of 2026.

The company had earlier set up a flavor manufacturing facility in Channo, Punjab.

The Ujjain facility will be a touchstone in expanding PepsiCo's beverage production in India, adding jobs and boosting the local economy, a company release said.

Jagrat Kotecha, CEO, PepsiCo India and South Asia, said, “With the support of the Government of Madhya Pradesh, we aim to strengthen our footprint while making impressive progress in enhancing the socio-economic landscape of the region.”

Kotecha took over the reigns from Ahmed Al Sheikh, who spent seven years in that role, in March 2024.

“We aim to increase the production of our beverages to meet the growing demand in the country. This strategic investment not only reinforces our dedication towards providing the highest quality beverages to our consumers, but also reinforces our responsibility to drive sustainable practices across our operations,” said Senior Vice President, Beverages, PepsiCo India George Kovuor said.

The company plans to employ state-of-the-art technologies at the Ujjain facility to smartly treat water usage and replenishment, the company said.

The company is eyeing approximately 90 percent overall water efficiency and recouping 100 percent of the water used at the facility.

Additionally, its operations will rely on renewable energy sources to reduce its carbon footprint by 1.9 metric tons per day.
