A senior PCB official said that chairman Mohsin Naqvi was well aware of the problems going on in the team before the World Cup. His close friend and national selector Wahab Riaz had informed him about this. He said, 'Naqvi held two face-to-face meetings with all the players and asked them to focus on winning the World Cup instead of personal interests. He also promised to clear all the misunderstandings in the team after the World Cup, but things did not work out.'

“I am not defending Babar, but what should a captain do when your main bowler cannot save even 15 runs in the last over against a weak American team. He gives away a four and a six on a full toss. An all-rounder returning from retirement has to sit out of the team due to fitness issues,” the source said.

A report has revealed that the team was divided into three factions after Babar Azam was made the captain before the T20 World Cup. A team source told 'PTI-Bhasha', “There are three factions in the team, one is led by Babar Azam, while the other camp is led by Afridi and the third by Rizwan. Amidst all this, the return of senior players like Mohammad Aamir and Imad Wasim made the situation of the team worse.”

He said that in the midst of all this, the players' agents and some former players who ran campaigns on social media did something that should not have happened. Along with all this, the role of external elements also increased the tension in the team.
