Pakistani armed forces abducted two youths amid continuing human rights violations in Balochistan

On 23 September a large number of Pakistani troops surrounded Killi Pandrani and raided houses.

During this operation, they detained two youths, blindfolded them and forcibly made them sit in their vehicles. There is no information about their whereabouts so far and the district authorities have not said anything about the incident yet.

Earlier, two other youths, Musa son of Khaliqdad and Sameer son of Majeed, were also forcibly made to disappear.

On September 22, he was abducted by Pakistani security forces at the Dasht Doro military checkpoint while travelling from Gwadar to Kapkapar.

“We are deeply concerned over the enforced disappearance of two students Musa s/o Khaliqdad and Sameer s/o Majeed. On 22 September, both of them were forcibly detained by Pakistan Army at military check post Dasht Doro while on their way from Gwadar to Kapkapar. We urge Pakistani authorities to immediately disclose their whereabouts and ensure their safe return,” PUNC (Human Rights Department of Baloch National Movement) said on X.

According to data from the Balochistan Post, 37 people were forcibly disappeared in Balochistan in August alone, while 9 people remain missing and 6 bodies have been recovered. Despite years of ongoing protests, rallies and growing international awareness, the Pakistani administration continues to turn a blind eye to demands for justice in Balochistan.

Pakistan has a long history of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings, particularly targeting human rights defenders and minority activists who criticise the government and military, as well as individuals suspected of involvement with the opposition. The unchecked power of the military and the complicit government has created a climate of fear and repression.

Enforced disappearances in Bangladesh remain a serious human rights concern, with ample evidence of widespread and systematic abuses by Pakistani security forces. The people of Balochistan are demanding urgent international attention and intervention to address these grave human rights violations.

The rising incidents of enforced disappearances not only violate fundamental human rights but also underline the brutal tactics adopted by the Pakistan Army to suppress the Baloch people’s demand for dignity and justice.
