Rawalpindi. The defeat in the first Test match against Bangladesh has created a stir in Pakistan cricket. Statements of former cricketers have been coming out since Pakistan lost by 10 wickets in the Rawalpindi Test. Now Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has said something that has surprised everyone. He has publicly admitted that Pakistan is currently lacking good players. The selectors do not have strong players for team selection.
Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi has termed the crushing 10-wicket defeat in the first Test match of the two-match series against Bangladesh as disappointing. He said that Pakistan does not have a strong pool of good players who can replace the players included in the national team if needed. Naqvi said, “This defeat is very disappointing. The problem is that the selection committee does not have such a pool of players who can replace the senior players if needed.”
Pakistan won its last Test match on home soil against South Africa in Rawalpindi in December 2021. Meanwhile, it had to face defeat in five matches. Pakistan went into the opening match of the series without a specialist spinner. It kept four fast bowlers in the team but its decision proved wrong.
Naqvi said, “The defeat against Bangladesh is sad but the selection committee had given 17 players to the team management. If the coach or captain has left out some of these players then it is their decision. They may have made a mistake but it has nothing to do with the selection committee.”
