New Delhi: The Ministry of Defense has approved the Indian Navy to build 100-tonne unmanned underwater ships. The project costs more than Rs 2,500 crore. This will take India ahead in the field of unmanned warfare. The Navy will use these ships for various purposes such as attacking enemy submarines and ships, laying and removing landmines, surveillance and firing weapons.

Recently, in a high-level meeting of the Defense Ministry, the proposal to build these unmanned underwater ships was approved. Defense sources said that these 'Extra Large' class ships will weigh more than 100 tons. These ships will be able to attack enemy submarines and ships. This will increase India's strength under water. Former Deputy Chief of the Navy, Vice Admiral SN Ghormade said that these ships will help the Navy to do many tasks under water. Sources said that the Navy wants to use these ships for many tasks like laying and removing landmines, surveillance and launching weapons.

The Navy will issue tender for the project next month
