New Delhi: Finally, a consensus was reached on the Lok Sabha Speaker. It is being said that Om Birla will be the Lok Sabha Speaker. On behalf of the ruling party, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh took charge and the work was done. It is believed that in the talks with the opposition, the post of Deputy Speaker was discussed and the ruling party decided to leave this post. In this way, the ruling party and the opposition took one step forward and both agreed on the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker. It is being said that the ruling party will have the post of Lok Sabha Speaker and the post of Deputy Speaker will be given to the opposition. When the last date of nomination came, talks were held between the two camps. On behalf of the ruling party, Rajnath Singh spoke to the opposition leaders and it was happily decided that only one candidate should stand for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker and Deputy Speaker so that there is no need for elections. Now the election for both the important posts for the lower house of Parliament will be done by consensus. Since there is no voting, now the names of the Lok Sabha Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be announced directly.

In 2014 and 2019, due to the BJP getting majority on its own and the plight of the opposition, the post of Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha remained vacant for 10 years. No one was given the post of Deputy Speaker in the 16th and 17th Lok Sabha. The government was also criticized for this. However, from 2014 to 2019, Sumitra Mahajan held the post of Lok Sabha Speaker while from 2019 to 2024, Om Birla held the post of Lok Sabha Speaker. Then Sumitra was elected from Indore in Madhya Pradesh while Om Birla was an MP from Kota in Rajasthan. Birla has reached Parliament this time too by getting elected from Kota. He has met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Therefore, it is being speculated that Om Birla will again be the Speaker of the Lok Sabha.
