New Delhi: Organ transplantation, including liver and kidney, is now going to gain momentum in the country. The first conference was organized by the Indian Society of Transplant Surgeons at AIIMS on Sunday. Niti Aayog member Dr. VK Paul was present as the chief guest in this. According to Dr. Paul, there is a great need for organ transplant surgeons in the country. In view of the demand of the time, efforts are being made to increase this number. It is expected that through training, the number of transplant surgeons will double in the next five years. This conference started on Sunday and will continue till Monday i.e. 9 September. The purpose of this event is to meet the growing demand for trained transplant surgeons in India. Transplant surgeons from many medical colleges including AIIMS, Chandigarh participated in the conference. In this, about 15 surgeons were taught the tricks of kidney and liver transplant. Other prominent guests at the conference included DGHS Dr. Atul Goyal According to experts, an important goal of this conference is to develop a network or grid that will train surgeons in organ transplantation by connecting various medical colleges, SOTTO (State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization) and trauma centers.
A separate center will be built for transplant in AIIMSA separate centre for transplant will be opened in AIIMS, where surgeons will be trained in new transplant techniques. Dr. VK Bansal of the Indian Society of Transplant Surgeons said that the aim of this organisation is to increase the training of transplant in the country. Along with this, new transplant surgeons are to be prepared. He says that new techniques, research and different methods of transplant will be promoted in the new transplant centre to be built in AIIMS. According to Dr. Bansal, Dr. VK Paul has said that the government will also help in increasing the number of transplant surgeons. In a few months, a roadmap will be prepared and the training of transplant surgeons will be increased, so that the number of transplant surgeons can be doubled in the coming five years.
Organ donation will also increase
Transplant surgeon Dr. Sandeep Guleria said that the basis of transplant is organ donation. Therefore, through this society, surgeons will be trained to do organ transplant, who will go to different parts of the country and do transplants. Also, this will increase organ donation significantly.
