The BJP may have fallen short of a majority, but it wants to retain the Speaker's post in the 18th Lok Sabha. The BJP has 240 MPs and it wants to retain the Speaker's post. However, for this it will have to take the NDA allies, especially TDP and JDU, into confidence. According to sources, the BJP may offer the Deputy Speaker's post to any NDA ally.
