New Delhi : The central investigation agency NIA has taken major action in Tamil Nadu. The NIA raided the hideouts of 11 suspected members of an organization called Hizb-ut-Tahrir, allegedly involved in anti-national activities in the state. In this, the team recovered many important documents, digital devices, cash and other literature related to the organization. The NIA said that this raid was done as part of the investigation of a case related to creating discontent through various social media handles and running a campaign against exercising electoral franchise. Hizb-ut-Tahrir has considered electoral franchise as un-Islamic or 'haram'. Hizb-ut-Tahrir has been identified as an organization that intends to establish an Islamic caliphate.

The investigation was handed over to the NIA in July
The NIA said that it had taken over the investigation from the Chennai Police in July this year. In this case, an organization called Hizb-ut-Tahrir and its members are accused of being involved in anti-national activities like anti-election and establishing Islamic rule in the country. During the investigation in this connection, different teams of NIA raided the houses of 11 suspects in Chennai, Tambaram and Kanyakumari districts on Tuesday. The team reached their homes and other hideouts.
