Nepal, Qatar signed eight agreements, labor agreement not included


Nepal's Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' held bilateral talks with the Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad on Wednesday. A total of eight agreements were signed with Nepal during the visit of the Emir of Qatar but the labor agreement was left out.

The agreement was signed by Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and the Emir of Qatar after bilateral talks between representatives of the two countries in Kathmandu.

An hour before the signing of the agreements, Aamir held a one-on-one meeting with PM Dahal. “Six agreements between ministries and two between private sectors were signed during the delegation meeting,” the Ministry of External Affairs confirmed.

Ahead of the formal departure of the Emir of Qatar from the Himalayan nation on Wednesday, a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in the field of culture and arts was signed between the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation of Nepal and the Ministry of Culture of the State of Nepal. Qatar and Nepal signed an agreement on cooperation and exchange of news between the National News Agency, Nepal (RSS) and Qatar News Agency (QNA).

Additionally, according to the Ministry of External Affairs, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Government of Nepal and the Government of the State of Qatar for cooperation in the field of education, higher education and scientific research.

The two countries signed another MoU between the Government of Nepal and the Government of the State of Qatar on cooperation in the field of youth and sports.

Similarly, a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed for cooperation between the Office of the Attorney General of Nepal and the Public Prosecution of the State of Qatar.

Oil-rich Middle-East country Qatar and Himalayan nation Nepal signed an MoU on cooperation in the field of diplomatic training and education between the Institute of Foreign Affairs (IFA) of the Government of Nepal and the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of External Affairs. Apart from government-to-government level talks and agreements, private bodies from both the countries signed the agreement on the establishment of Joint Business Council (JBC) between Qatar Chamber and Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI).

Furthermore, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Qatar Chamber and Federation of Nepali Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has also been renewed between the countries.

After a lunch hosted by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the Emir of Qatar returned home after concluding his two-day state visit to Nepal. President Ram Chandra Paudel, Vice President Ram Shaya Prasad Yadav, Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Foreign Minister Narayankaji Shrestha bid farewell to Amir Al Thani at the airport.

During his stay, Amir Al Thani held meetings with President Paudel and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, underscoring the commitment to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
