'Tangle' second half slow
Director Pa Ranjith has his own fan following. He has given superhit and popular films like Kabali and Kaala with Rajinikanth. This film, which released on 15 August in the South, has received a good response. Pa Ranjith has also taken his storytelling style forward in Thangalan. He has proved to be the best in every way in depicting the 18th century environment and the way of speaking, dressing and atmosphere of the people of the community. The style of guerrilla warfare in the flashback scenes is hair-raising and Ranjith has been successful in adding strong horror effects to it. It takes you some time to get into the world of Thangalan, but then you become familiar with those characters. Ranjith has highlighted the casteism prevalent in the society of that time with great sensitivity. Visually the film is quite rich. The first half is strong, but the confusion of the flashback creates confusion. This is the reason why the film drags in the second half. Pa Ranjith should have worked a little more on the backstory. The film's length of more than two and a half hours is also a hindrance and the film starts feeling heavy on you. The climax is strong. Music by composer GV Prakash makes the story even more powerful.
The actors of 'Tanghalan'
In this film, which rests on the shoulders of Chiyaan Vikram, the actor has proved himself in every way. His hard work for the character is clearly visible on the screen. He has many characters in the film, husband, warrior and leader who saves the society. He has done a good job in every way. Malavika Mohanan as Aarti has supported him well in the guerrilla war scenes. A mental connection is felt between the two characters. Parvati Thiruvothu in the role of wife Gangamma has given light moments to the story with her playfulness. Daniel Caltagirone, Arjun Ambudan and Pasupathi have done memorable work as supporting actors.
Why watch: People who are fond of mystery-thriller stories and Chiyaan Vikram's acting can watch this film.
