Maryam Nawaz, the senior vice president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has been elected as the chief minister of Pakistan’s Punjab province. This decision came after the nomination papers of Maryam Nawaz and Rana Aftab from the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) were declared valid by the election commission, as reported by ARY News.

The session, presided over by the newly-elected Punjab assembly speaker Malik Ahmad Khan, commenced after a 30-minute delay.

Maryam Nawaz, daughter of former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, expressed her commitment to meeting the expectations of the people.
