Leave double standards, take action against anti-India people too… Delhi once again warned Canada

New Delhi: India has once again strongly urged Canada to take action against anti-India elements carrying out wrong activities from its soil. This comment came from Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal on Thursday. In fact, Canada has accused two people of threatening to kill Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on social media, but no such action has been taken against those who threatened Indian leaders and diplomats. Jaiswal said, “We have seen these reports. When a democracy adopts different standards to enforce the rule of law and freedom of expression, it only reveals its own double standards.” He said, “We expect Canada to take action against those anti-India elements who have repeatedly threatened Indian leaders, institutions, airlines and diplomats.” Jaiswal said, “We want the same level of strict action to be taken on the threats made against us.”

What is the matter?

According to a statement released by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) on Monday, a 67-year-old Edmonton man has been charged with three counts under Canada's Criminal Code for posting on YouTube threats to kill Prime Minister Trudeau, Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland and New Democratic Party Leader Jagmeet Singh. In a separate case, a 23-year-old Calgary man has been charged with threatening to kill Trudeau on June 6.
