Know what arguments did the CBI give for which state in the NEET paper leak case

New Delhi: The CBI has submitted the status report of its probe into alleged irregularities in the NEET UG 2024 exam to the Supreme Court. The agency has submitted its probe report into the alleged paper leak in Bihar and irregularities at centres in Gujarat and Rajasthan to the court in a sealed cover. Meanwhile, the hearing on several petitions seeking re-examination of NEET UG 2024 was adjourned till July 18 on Thursday. As per the information available, the CBI probe has not found evidence of the allegations of large-scale cheating and paper leak levelled by the petitioners. The CBI has detected cases of cheating and forgery at exam centres in Gujarat and Rajasthan. The agency has questioned suspects and charged those arrested by the Bihar Police in the alleged paper leak case. The Ministry of Education and the National Testing Agency have filed their affidavits on Wednesday evening itself. The central government has approached IIT Madras to identify those who took unfair advantage in the NEET UG exam.

After analysing the data on the Supreme Court's order, IIT Madras has said that the analysis shows that there is no indication of large-scale cheating or abnormally high marks being scored due to an edge among students at any one location. In an affidavit filed late on Wednesday night, the education ministry told the Supreme Court that IIT Madras has said that there has been an overall increase in the marks obtained by students, particularly between 550 and 720. This increase has been observed across all cities and centres. The IIT Madras analysis further states that this is due to a 25% reduction in the syllabus. Moreover, candidates scoring so high marks are spread across multiple cities and multiple centres, making cheating highly unlikely.
