Kargil Vijay Diwas: Has our Vikram Batra returned? Who said 'Yeh Dil Maange More' to the high peaks of Drass

New Delhi: The whole country was immersed in the celebration of Kargil Vijay Diwas, suddenly the sound of 'Ye Dil Mange More' was heard three times from the high peaks of Dras. Everyone was surprised. For a moment it seemed that our Kargil lion Captain Vikram Batra has returned. But those who go away never come back, their memories always remain alive in the heartbeats. The voice that came out piercing the peaks was of Captain Vikram Batra's twin brother Vishal Batra. Vikram Batra's twin brother Vishal Batra today stood at Point 5140 of Dras and shouted the slogan 'Ye Dil Mange More'. 25 years ago, after capturing Tiger Hill in the Kargil war, Captain Vikram Batra also shouted the same slogan. Captain Vikram Batra was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra. This emotional act of Vishal Batra reminds us of his brother's martyrdom. After capturing Tiger Hill, Captain Vikram Batra gave the slogan 'Ye Dil Mange More' which still inspires the countrymen. This slogan has become a symbol of his indomitable courage and patriotism.

'…but Vikram will always remain 25 years old'

Vishal reached the martyrdom place of his twin brother Captain Vikram Batra to remember him. Both of them would have turned 50 years old on 9 September. Vishal was very close to his brother. He looks exactly like his brother. He told that on this special occasion, to be close to him, he went to the post where Captain Batra was posted 25 years ago. Vishal said, 'After 45 days I will turn 50, but Vikram will always be 25 years old. We had a very deep relationship with each other. Apart from being twins, we were also good friends.' Captain Vikram Batra's brother Vishal Batra recently went to that military post located at an altitude of 17 thousand feet, where Captain Batra sacrificed his life during the Kargil war, remembering the bravery of his brother. This was the same slogan which Captain Batra immortalized during the war.

Vishal got special permission

Vishal said that he had received special permission from Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi to visit this inaccessible post. In this journey, he was accompanied by some soldiers who had worked with Captain Batra. Vishal said, 'When I passed through this area and talked to those who had spent time with my brother, the atmosphere became emotional. Every step at this post, located at an altitude of about 17,000 feet, was a poignant reminder of the sacrifice and bravery of Vikram and his comrades.'

Vikram wrote a letter to his brother

Captain Vikram Batra wrote four letters to his brother between June 16 and July 5, 1999. In the first letter, he told about his 'mission'. In the second letter written on June 23, he told that he has been recommended for the Mahavir Chakra, the country's second highest bravery award. In the third letter written on July 2, he talked about going on his next mission. Vishal remembers his brother and said, 'We received the last letter after his death in the war.'
