Javed Jaffrey Exclusive: As long as there is a desire to do something, an artist remains alive

Bollywood actor Javed Jaffrey has spent a long time in the film industry. He has also been very popular on TV. These days he is in the news for his web series 'Taza Khabar Season 2' on OTT. Recently, in a conversation with Presswire 18 Times, he answered questions about his career, his innings on OTT and life as an artist as well as his personal life. You have been winning everyone's heart through comedy for a long time, so when you came into a new world, OTT was a different experience, how was the experience?
One good thing about OTT is that people keep it in their pocket. Someone is traveling in a bus, someone in a train, so people can watch it anywhere. This is not seen in TV and films. This is a big advantage of OTT. Secondly, like our series, you can watch it continuously in two and a half hours. We have not made a very long series either. In films, it happens that if there was a little more time, we would have shown it, but in OTT you are able to do justice to the actors according to the time. So it was a lot of fun working on OTT.

'Taza Khabar 2' trailer: Two weeks, 500 crores… How will Vasant Gawade raise such a huge amount? Bhuvan Bam's show is powerful
You keep visiting Delhi, is there any anecdote related to the capital that you would like to share?
I remember an incident from a shooting in Delhi. The shooting was going on. When shooting takes place on the road, there is a crowd there. The production people are also there, so they ask the people to move back a little. Now they moved back two inches. After a while, the director angrily says that move them away, they are coming in the screen. So the production people again ask them to move back. So they moved back four inches instead of two inches. In such a situation, the team has to tell them again and again. So one person says in Delhi style that 'how much more should we move back, should we leave Delhi' (laughs) so I remember this incident.

You have played many different roles so far. Do you feel there is still something left to do?
An artist has a desire to do something till his last breath. The day that desire ends, the artist also dies. If people's prayers and blessings continue, we will do something new.

You danced in the film 'Meri Jung'. Tell us something about your dance in that film?
That was a time when I didn't know where I wanted to go and where I was going. I didn't know what I wanted to become. When I got the offer, I accepted it. I got that offer because of dance. When I went there, the choreographer at that time was Saroj ji. She called all the dancers of the industry and said look at this boy. She said show me what you do. I showed them. They were very modest people. They didn't think that we are big choreographers so what will this kid teach us. So they picked my good steps and said we will use them. Then they molded it into choreography. The way Subhash Ghai sahab showed it on screen was amazing. People said all this won't work, we need simple dances, which people can do themselves. I said this is what I know. So the first generation of songs that you are watching today started with such songs.

Your series 'Taza Khabar Season 2' is in a lot of discussions. Tell us something about this series? The rest of the casting for Taaza Khabar 2 was done, I was approached for my role much later. At that time I had not seen the first season of Taaza Khabar, I had only seen the trailer. I liked it but for some reason I could not watch the full season. When I saw the first season, I really liked it. I especially liked Bhuvan Bam's work. I had seen him earlier in the short video format. He has a very good connection with the youth.
