New Delhi: It is very important to be active to stay fit, but in 2022, 50% of people in India were not physically active. They do not exercise even for an hour. This shocking fact has come to light in the report of 'The Lancet Global Health'. Indian women are more behind than men. These 50% inactive people include 42% men and 57% women.

Low rates of physical activity in men and women

In terms of good health, WHO has said that 150 minutes of moderate exercise every week or 75 minutes of brisk exercise every week is good. If someone does less than this, then it is not good for health. The report says that more than half of India's population is unable to meet this guideline. The research team has studied 197 countries, in which it was also found that globally the rate of physical activity is decreasing among both men and women aged 60 years and above.60% of Indians will be unhealthy by 2030
The study said that insufficient physical activity in the country increased from 22% in 2000 to 34% in 2010. If this situation remains, about 60% of India's population will become physically unhealthy by 2030 and the global target of 15% improvement will remain a dream. According to WHO, lack of physical activity increases the risk of diseases like diabetes and heart disease. According to a research report conducted in 2023, in 2021, 10.1 crore people in India were suffering from diabetes, while the number of people suffering from high blood pressure was 31.5 crore.
