Problem of IIT graduates
Behera has also mentioned a big problem of the students studying in IIT. He said that apart from reduction in hiring by companies, the other major reason for the decline in placements is the expectation of very high salary packages by IITians. He told that many PSUs (government companies) had come to give jobs to IIT graduates. Jobs were also given, but many students rejected their offers. It was a bad experience for employers also.
Behera told Express that 'BEL people came from Ghaziabad and gave many job offers. But I was told that our IITians refused to take jobs there. They only want higher packages of NMC of software sector. But they have to understand that PSUs are not part of any rat race. They provide long-term benefits and stability.
Bad experience of PSU with IITians!
Director of IIT Mandi says, 'I would like to convince the IIT students to recognize the value of these jobs in India. Although I know it is challenging to explain this to them. When they see their peers working in higher-paying jobs, they deviate. Public sector companies have had a bad experience with IIT graduates and it is not their fault.
