Anurag Kashyap gave you your first break in That Girl in Yellow Boots. However, he is your co-star in this series. How has your relationship with Anurag changed over the years?

Initially, I was hesitant to talk to him. We used to talk only about work, mostly he would tell me that I am writing this film, I am going to New York, I am going to some film festival and we would sit and talk for hours. Then there was some distance between us because he married my friend (Kalki) and when they separated, we did not meet like before. I did not have that much courage then because he had an aura, the kind of cinema he makes. He gave me my first break so there was a respect, which is still there, so I could not try to become his friend but in this show, we were costars. He was not the director here, so in his free time, he also did not know what to do. I also got enough courage that now we used to talk about this and that, so we used to talk a lot. Apart from this, both of us are also well-wishers of each other.

In the series, your wife is older than you and the relationship between you two is different, due to which there are ups and downs in your relationship. Generally, in our patriarchal society, men cannot tolerate a wife who is more successful than them. What would you like to say about this?

The reason for this is our social conditioning. Whatever we see our elders, elder brothers doing, we accept it as true and think that this is how it happens. Men are also victims of this. There is a lot of pressure on men too, to earn, to get a good job, to be the support of everyone, because they are men. Therefore, they get conditioned that we are men, we have to do such things. This thinking has not changed with time and it takes a lot of time to understand these things because we are not taught these things in school, for this we have to keep working hard gradually, only then will change come. Nothing will happen by suddenly cracking the whip.

In this you are playing the role of a policeman. According to Anurag Kashyap, you are going to compete with Tiger Shroff in terms of action. How was the experience?

In this, I am playing the role of a policeman for the second time, but in Dahar, where I was a very honest and realistic policeman, here I am completely opposite to that. After Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota, I am also doing a double role for the second time. I did Commando with its director Aditya Dutt. He has done a film with Vidyut Jamwal, so he is quite an expert in action. For me, this was a bit challenging, because it requires physical strength. There is a lot of stress on the body while doing action. Take care of yourself, take care of others too and I am not used to this, so we get tired quickly. Anyway, if you run all night, you will get tired. Vidyut and Tiger do this. They have been given training for many years. We cannot call ourselves action heroes with just two-four days of training, so that was difficult, but Aditya Dutt designed the action keeping all this in mind. He got the action done in such a way that it looked good, felt good, but I could also perform it.

Which is your favourite police character? And this series is a remake of Bad Cop, is there any Hindi film you would like to remake?

There are many police characters that I like. I like Amitabh Bachchan's character in Zanjeer, Om Puri sahab's character in Ardh Satya, my character in Singham and Dahar. Talking about remakes, the idea of remaking Anand had crossed my mind, Rajesh Khanna has done a wonderful job in it, but then I thought don't even think of remaking such great films. It is a sin, leave that film, it is immortal.
