Indian Navy's strength is going to increase, it will take Tapas drone from DRDO to monitor the sea areas


New Delhi: The strength of the Indian Navy is going to increase. The Indian Navy has decided to order four Tapas drones indigenously built by DRDO, promoting indigenous weapons. These drones developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) will be used by the Indian Navy to monitor the maritime area.

Tapas drone will monitor the sea areas

Defence officials said that the Indian Navy is going to order four Tapas drones and it will be used for monitoring the maritime areas. These Tapas drones will be manufactured jointly by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). According to sources, after the deal, work on making the drones will be done at a fast pace and the first drone will be ready within 24 months of signing the contract. Existing drones will be used for testing and improving them further.

It is worth noting that in the tests so far, the Tapas drones have not been able to meet all the requirements of the defense forces, but DRDO is working on this project to further develop this Medium Altitude, Long Range (MALE) Tapas.

Tapas failed to meet standards in test

Let us tell you that the Tapas drones developed by Ade have not yet been able to meet all the requirements of the defense forces. They needed to fly continuously for more than 24 hours at an altitude of 30,000 feet, but they could not meet this standard. Due to this, they have been excluded from the category of important mission projects for the time being.

However, in the test conducted by the defence forces, the Tapas drone has successfully flown up to an altitude of 28,000 feet and flown for over 18 hours. In a test after taking off from Karnataka's Chitradurga airfield, Indian Navy officials flew the drone for a few hours over the Arabian Sea. According to sources, the Tapas drone does not require a very long runway to take off. It can also be flown from island areas and small airfields.
