The Indian cricket team is gearing up to take on Australia in the first India vs Australia ODI at the PCA Stadium in Mohali on Friday.
KL Rahul will lead the Indian side for the first two matches in the absence of Rohit Sharma, with Rohit, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, and Kuldeep Yadav resting. To fill the gaps, India has included Ravichandran Ashwin, who replaces Axar Patel due to an injury sustained during the Asia Cup match against Bangladesh.
India is entering the series with confidence, having recently clinched the Asia Cup with a 10-wicket victory over Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, Australia faced a 2-3 series loss against South Africa.
Australia, however, starts the series on a positive note as they secured a 2-1 series victory when they faced India earlier in the year. However, they will miss the services of Mitchell Starc and Glenn Maxwell due to injuries, but Steve Smith is back in the side.
