New Delhi. The 10th match of the Women's Asia Cup 2024 was played between India and Nepal. The Indian team registered a spectacular victory in this match. Shefali Verma, who came to open, played a brilliant innings of 81 runs in the match. India has now reached the semi-finals of the Asia Cup. In this match, the command of Team India was in the hands of Smriti Mandhana. After the victory, she told why she did not come to bat.
After the victory, captain Smriti Mandhana said, “As an opening batsman, you get very few matches in which you do not have to bat. It was important for all our remaining batsmen to play. In the previous matches, our middle order did not bat because the conditions there were different. But this time it was good that they got a chance to spend time on the field. There is still a lot to do after WPL and we have to constantly improve.”
Mandhana further said, “We cannot go to the World Cup without preparation. Sometimes, the more we play cricket, the more we forget to enjoy the game. They (Nepal) played good cricket. We hope that the Nepal team will improve its game. You cannot take any team lightly, we have two days to practice. After this, we will go to the field and keep ourselves ready.”
Talking about the match, after scoring 178 runs for three wickets, India restricted Nepal's innings to 96 runs for nine wickets. From India's side, Deepti Sharma took three wickets for 13 runs in four overs while Radha Yadav and Arundhati Reddy got two wickets each. Renuka Singh got one wicket. India topped Group A with three wins in three matches and made it to the semi-finals while Nepal's journey ended with two points from one win in three matches. Pakistan also reached the semi-finals from this group.
