The Supreme Court reprimanded the apologist
A bench of Justices Hima Kohli and Sandeep Mehta directed senior advocate PS Patwalia, appearing for Ashokan, to provide copies of 20 editions of 'The Hindu' newspaper in which his apology has been published within a week. The court said that unless we see the advertisement in physical form, we are not shown the actual size, we will not believe it… Part of the apology filed before us is unclear as the font is small. The IMA president's counsel is directed to file physical copies of 20 publications of 'The Hindu' within a week, where the apology has been published. Earlier on July 9, the IMA president had unconditionally apologized for his statements in the Supreme Court.
During the hearing on May 14, the bench had asked Ashokan some tough questions about his 'damaging' statements against the court in an interview and said that you cannot do this by sitting comfortably on the sofa and giving interviews to the press and ridiculing the court. The court then made it clear that it would not accept his apology at that stage. A day before the hearing of the case, the apex court had expressed displeasure over Ashokan's comments and sought his response on an application filed by Patanjali Ayurveda Limited, urging the court to take judicial cognizance of the statements made by him.
