At the same time, the Lok Sabha Speaker told the members of the opposition parties that they can discuss all the issues related to the President's address. The Congress leader said that as the Leader of the Opposition, Rahul informed the Speaker about this issue.

This was Gandhi's first meeting with the Lok Sabha Speaker after assuming charge as the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha. He was accompanied by Samajwadi Party's Dharmendra Yadav, DMK's Kanimozhi, Nationalist Congress Party's (SP) Supriya Sule and Trinamool Congress' Kalyan Banerjee on the occasion.
