How much fine was imposed on which IAS coaching?

CCPA Chief Commissioner Nidhi Khare told NBT that 15 institutes have been fined for giving misleading advertisements. IQRA IAS has been fined Rs 1 lakh and Khan Study Group IAS has been fined Rs 5 lakh. Chahal Academy has been fined Rs 1 lakh, Seekers Education Rs 50 thousand, Skyway Career Hub Rs 10 thousand, Byju IAS Rs 10 lakh, Maluka IAS Rs 3 lakh, EduTap Learning Solutions Rs 3 lakh, Yojana and Plutus IAS Rs 3 lakh and Shriram IAS Rs 3 lakh.

He said that these institutes have paid the fine. Apart from these, Shankar IAS Academy was fined Rs 5 lakh on August 14. Analog IAS Academy, APTI Plus Academy, Unacademy and Rau's IAS Study Circle have been fined Rs 1 lakh each. Khare said that in these cases the institutes have appealed in the High Courts and NCDRC and have not paid the fine.

How IAS coaching institutes make students fools

Khare said most IAS coaching institutes do not disclose which courses the successful candidates have opted for. Roughly, out of the 11-13 lakh candidates, after clearing the preliminary exam, around 10,000 appear for the main stage. Of these, around 3,000 clear the main exam.

CCPA found that in most cases, the institutes focus on providing online or offline interview guidance to these candidates. Sometimes this is done for free, as the institutes know that now only 1 in 3 candidates has a chance of being selected in the finals. He said, 'If these institutes had clearly mentioned about the successful candidates which course they have chosen, then potential consumers (candidates) would not have been misled and they could have been saved from investing time and money in their coaching classes for a year.'
