The hobby of stamp collection and philately will now also get scholarships for children. For this, the Postal Department has started the Deen Dayal Sparsh Yojana. Scholarships will be given to children from class 6 to 9. Children of council schools will also get the benefit of the scheme. In this regard, the Basic Education Department has also issued guidelines to all the District Basic Education Officers.
You will get 500 rupees every month
Under the Deendayal Sparsh Yojana, launched with the aim of encouraging stamp collection and linking it to the education system, a scholarship of Rs 500 per month will be given on a quarterly basis. Being a student of a recognized school is the eligibility for this scheme. But there should be a philately club in the concerned school. Also, the students should also be members of the club.
If there is no philately club in the school, then students who have their own philately deposit account can also join this scheme. Philately deposit account can be opened in the post office with a minimum of Rs 200. Every postal circle will give scholarship to 10 students each of class 6, 7, 8 and 9. Only those students who get 60 percent marks or equivalent grade in the final examination will get scholarship. There is a discount of 5 percent for SC, ST students.

Written Quiz on 30th September
Under the scheme, the first written quiz will be held on 30 September at the divisional level. 50 multiple choice questions will be asked in it. Students successful in the quiz will have to submit a philately project of maximum 500 words along with 16 postage stamps by the first week of November. On the basis of stamp collection and philately project, the committee of postal officers and philatelists at the divisional level will declare the final result on 30 November. Selected students will have to open a joint account with their parents in the post office or India Post Payments Bank. After this, they will get scholarship every month.
What is the Philately Club?
A group of people interested in the collection and study of postage stamps is called a Philately Club. This club coordinates with the local postal authorities and the General Post Office of the Indian Postal Department to obtain information related to postage stamps. Activities related to postage stamps are conducted through the Philately Club.
Ghaziabad District Basic Education Officer OP Yadav said that the instructions given by the department regarding Deen Dayal Sparsh Yojana will be followed. Efforts will be made to ensure that as many children as possible from the district join this scheme so that they can get scholarship every month.
